Victoria Airport Authority Recognized as a Top Employer in B.C.
Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) has been named as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for 2024.
“We’re pleased to receive this special designation for a fifth consecutive year,” said Elizabeth M. Brown, Victoria Airport Authority President and CEO. “Being recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of the entire VAA team. It is an honour and a source of pride for all of us to be again acknowledged as a top employer and we’ll remain committed to investing in the health and wellness of our employees and organization.”
Some of the reasons VAA was selected as one BC’s Top Employers include:
- Helping employees balance their personal and working lives through a variety of alternative working options (varying by position), including flexible hours, compressed work weeks, hybrid options as well as an earned days-off program.
- Encouraging ongoing employee development with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions with an option for employees to apply for an unpaid educational leave of absence for full-time studies (with duration determined on a case-by-case basis).
- Assisting employees to plan for life after work with retirement planning assistance services, along with generous contributions to a defined benefit pension plan.
Now in its 19th year, BC’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office or principal place of business in British Columbia. Employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
